Planting Instructions
The seeds require pre-treatment before germination will begin. This is not difficult to do but does require a little bit of patience….. but its worth the wait.
- First soak the seeds in warm water and leave them to soak for 2 to 3 days
- Sow all 20 seeds into a mixture of compost and sharp sand, or perlite/vermiculite.
- Place the seed mixture into a clear plastic bag (freezer bags, zip-lock bag – leave a little air gap)
- Write the date on the bag so that you know when the pre-treatment was started
- Next keep the seeds in a warm environment (indoors) for around 4 weeks. The seeds first require a period of warm pre-treatment and need to be kept in temperatures of 20 Celsius (68F)
- Next the seeds require a cold period to break the final part of the dormancy, this can be achieved by placing the bag outside – during this stage you should see shoots emerging
- Transplant into 6cm pot(s) When the seedlings have two sets of leaves
Cultivation tips
- Transplant into a 6cm pot, then into garden
- A very hardy plant that can tolerate low temperatures
